No Guarantees on 99-cent Singles May 4, 2006

Mark, don’t be so quick to join the mass interpretations. Apple renewed some contracts, but I sure haven’t seen the terms — or even the duration. Have you? Variable pricing for digital singles is inevitable, and sensible. (It’s supply and demand, right?) I agree with Steve Jobs that it’s too early to do it now,– 99 cents is still a sweet spot and simplicity is still critical — but at some point it’s going to happen.
