The Borg of Sports Will Assimilate You August 11, 2006Posted by David Card in Media.
Two more signs that my very definition of a modern media company (single brand, single audience, all media), ESPN, is pretty much unstoppable:
from the NY Post
- In another validation that the cable sports juggernaut is the lifeblood of the Walt Disney Co., the media giant’s third quarter earnings yesterday showed ESPN accounting for roughly half of Disney’s $2 billion in operating income.
and from Reuters
- Walt Disney Co.’s ESPN network said on Thursday that its sister ABC Sports broadcasts will air from ESPN-branded sets starting in September, part of the entertainment giant’s effort to win market share by luring consumers with its best-known brands.
They’re still gonna screw up Amuhrica’s Monday nights.
