Yahooligans on the Move December 6, 2006

Posted by David Card in Media.

Yahoo re-org. Three big functional units — audience (content), publishers & advertisers (advertising, headed by current CFO Sue Decker), and tech (headed by current CTO Farzad Nazem). COO Dan Rosensweig will leave in March.

No, Semel didn’t step down. The Journal says Yahoo Media Group head Lloyd Braun — who never fit in — and International Operations Senior Vice President John Marcom are also out.

Stated object is accountability and faster decisions. We’ll see. Probably can’t hurt; should be easier to identify and eliminate redundancy. Only odd thing is that Yahoo is going outside the company to find somebody to run what is effectively the content and programming group. Hold the jokes about re-arranging the deck chairs, please.
