“Cumulative Advantage” Just Sounds More Scientific April 14, 2007

More evidence that hits will never lose their power over entertainment markets, and some fun stuff on why they’re hard to predict. It turns out that hits are popular because they’re popular. I believe I’ve said that to a few journalists, but they never quote me because it seems so obvious. I shoulda said “cumulative advantage” or “network effect” — that sounds more impressive.
