At 10:30PM, the line outside of the Union Square Barnes and Noble is impassable. It goes around the block. In both directions. There’s a line outside of the Astor Place one as well. Sometimes I hate New York.
On the flip side, I can go pick up a copy, probably without a line, at the Virgin Megastore or Shakespeare & Co. at midnight.
UPDATED: Curses! Long line at Shakespeare — and then they sold out! (And a grinning, simpering clerk didn’t warn us till we’d waited 45 minutes.) Another long line at Virgin. I officially hate New York.
To hell with instant gratification; Amazon gets all my business.
